Use this simple exercise during the course of your meeting. Especially if there have been several points where participants received information or where you have had discussions. This exercise helps participants to remember the content of the meeting because they have the opportunity to put their own words to what they have heard, said and thought. The exercise also provides the leader with an overview of what needs to be repeated and what needs more time to discuss.
Say this
We now take a short Time Out. Please stand up. Meet two colleagues and tell each other what you remember the best from the meeting so far. It can be something you have said or others have said. Or it may be some thoughts you've got underway. Allow participants to talk for five minutes or slightly more, depending on how easy the conversations proceed.
Ask participants to sit down
Ask a few: What did you talk about in your conversations? Allow the dialogue to flow until you are ready to continue with the agenda.
An additional remark
This exercise can also be used in networking conditions. Especially after the presentation round or after a business presentation.
